Grandma still in coma
That's the respirator that my Grandma is using...My grandma fell into a coma on Friday morning when my cousin tried to wake her up at 11am and she just didn't respond. It was weird because my grandma never slept past 8am and she's always up when I was getting ready to go for work during the times she stayed with us. That morning, an ambulance was called to send her to University Hospital.
Doc said she suffered a stroke and now in coma. Half of her body will be paralysed as the stroke affected her left brain. It's such a heartache to see her lying in bed, using a respirator to breathe and couldn't open her eyes. But she could her us. I held her hand and called her and she responded my moving her fingers and left leg. Today was the second day and 72 hours is nearing and she still hasn't woke up or opened her eyes. Everyone was so worried and all my uncles and aunts are the hospital hoping for some good news.
I've never felt this way before because I have not been faced with someone dear lying on the hospital bed and is in critical condition. It hurts to know that the someone is my grandma. While I was waiting to go into the room to see her, a lady doctor was at the entrance breaking the news of a almost dying patient to her family. It was my first encounter on how the doctor would break such news to a family. The patient beside my grandma is on her dying bed. She was in coma for 5 days and perhaps today is her last. Just hearing what would happen to the next door patient is heart wrenching enough. I wouldn't know how I would react if the news was for me.
Even if my grandma survived this critical stage, life would never be the same. She would never be mobile again. She would not be able to walk to my computer room and chat with me while I'm busy Facebooking...
I wish her well and may God do what is best for her.

wish her all the best.
Yes, may God bless her and His will be done. Sometimes when old people are in such a state, it is best to let go... I assume that she was ok all this while before she went into a coma and that was good! Nothing's worse than having to suffer on and on and on...
very sorry to hear this. i hope your family will remain strong, whatever happens. it reminds me of my own grandmother, who is her in late 80s. when i see her looking so frail nowadays, i worry that she won't be around much longer.
Sorry to hear about your grandmother. May God bless her so that she heals earlier.
Sorry to hear about this! Hope your grandma recovers as soon as possible!
sorry to hear that. wish her all the best.

Heyyy Ling, my mum had a stroke and was sent to UH too but they could not do much. Stroke happens for my reason, for example blockages of blood travelling to the brain, some vein burst etc and I reckon it helps if you can contact this accupuncture guy Wong Sifu from Gasing to release your grandma´s critical point asap. What UH does know is probably observe her further? Any medication to liquify her blood? UH knows him well, they engage him for his work. If anything, email me at lianne_kang@yahoo.com
For someone of your grandma's age suffering this kind of a problem, you would hope that she either heals completely, or go peacefully.
In that light, my view of western medication is that it'll probably leave her lying somewhere halfway, which would hardly be a pleasant outcome.
Lianne's suggestion of an acupuncture expert is worth checking out.
Be strong and dun let it get to you... have faith as god has his way...
I'm sure that your grandma doesn't want to see u all like this...
we'll pray for her...
Cumi & Ciki: Thanks dear.
Lianne: Thanks Lianne and I sent you an email.
The Gunner: Thanks. I actually feel that it's better for her to leave the world peacefully and painlessly. it's so heart wrenching to see her condition now with all the tubes going through her body.
Thinker: Thanks for your kind prayers.
my prayers with u....kinda understand how u feel as i've jus been through the same thing (my bf's grandma)...its heart wrenching to hear what the doc said...be strong n have faith....
Hey Eiling,
Sorry to hear about your grandma. Went through the same experience six years ago but my grandma survived but like you said, was never the same again since paralysed half body and have to rely on others nowadays.
Hope she gets well soon though. Stay strong, k? Hugz.
Sorry to hear about that Eiling! My best wishes goes out to her. It must be hard on the entire family. Take care and God bless!
My prayers are with you and your family. Stay Strong!

Taufulou: Thanks and wishing your friends well too.
Wei Mei: Thanks babe.
I totally feel you, the same situation happen my family. As I recalled there is a drug that the hospital can administrate to dissolve the clogging of blood in the brain to reduce the risk of paralyze but our situation was too late to administrate the drug.
A mate of mine in Singapore, his father had a stork at home, they were in time to send him to hospital and the drug was administrated; he is recovering now.
The acupuncture does help to ease the paralyze body and let the patient to gain control of their body again. My grandma did not improved much after the stroke, she lived for few and the night she passed is the day I passed my final accountancy paper.
My prayer is with you and your family
TY: So sorry to hear that. Thanks for your kind wishes.
just got back online today after a busy weekend!!
sorry to hear that and I definitely know how you feel... coz I'd been there before. My grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer (critical stage) and those image of her when she was still quite young (I was a little boy back them) pinching my ear everytime I was naughty flashed back in my mind...
To me, she was a tough and kind hearted lady who gave everything to her family and to raise all her children... my only regret is that I didn't spend much time with her so I hope that you visit her whenever you can...
Thule a.k.a Leo: So sorry to hear that. Am sure you misses your grandma off and on too. I visit her whenever I can and I'm just disheartened to know that she's not getting any better.
