Chillout Evening
I'm at it again.
I'm chilling out at my favourite place - Skybar @ Traders Hotel. The last time I was there was probably 2 weeks ago (here). It's no doubt a great place for a drink while admiring the beautiful city view from above especially when you get the full view of our infamous KLCC Twin Towers. This time, I asked to see the manager, whom commented on my previous blog post but too bad, he was on leave.
This time, instead of having a mocktail, I decided to go for a bottle of white. There are a few selection of whites at Skybar such as sauvignon blanc, chardonnay or Riesling. Prices range from RM120+ to around RM200+.

Cape Mentelle Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2008Cape Mentelle, sister to Cloudy Bay is a winery at Margaret River, a world-renowned remote wine region in south west of Australia. Anyone who loves Australian wines would have tried at least a bottle or two from Margaret River. What makes Cape Mentelle famous is that it's represented by LVMH group which under Moet Hennessy has an impressive portfolio of wines.
This Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2008 (RM190+ at Skybar), is a very light drinking white. However, when it was served, it wasn't chilled enough. A suitable serving temperature for a Sauvignon Blanc or other whites such as Chardonnays, Rieslings and Chenin Blancs should be around 7 degrees Celsius. Thus, I had to chill it a bit more in the ice bucket. Since our climate is so warm, the wine gets warmed up quite fast.

This wine, has a pale greenish colour. On the nose, it has hints of zesty lime and some citrus blossoms. On the palate, it displays tastes of lemon which gives it a good citrus acidity coupled with fruity notes. It's actually quite a limey-balanced white. It's a very crisp white wine, perfect for a warm evening, by the pool!
At 7pm, the staff has to chase the patrons off because the GAB people are having an event there. I think it's about launching their new Tiger beer. It's quite fascinating watching a photographer at work, don't you think?

Yesterday, I went to look for a friend whom I'm having dinner with for a pre dinner drinks and nibble. As I arrived, I was greeted by.... hams!!! Oh dear, this is so irresistible! Perfect as appetizers.
From top left: Parma Ham, Country Ham & Smoked Bacon. All these can be bought from O Gourmet at BSC Food Hall. I find the country ham very nice as it is tender and full of robust flavours. It went down very well with the whisky. After that we adjourned to a new place for dinner in town, BUBU, which I would blog later!
Thank God It's Friday!!!
P/S: I'm a guest blogger today for Cumi & Ciki's Blogger in the Spotlight (B.I.T.S) Friday so hop over and have a read!
Cheers.

Wow. Ciki wasn't kidding when she said you are very knowledgable about wines! I am taking my time to read this post, letting it all sink in, the information, I mean. :)
I was at Sky Bar yesterday. Place was fantastic. U met the siao poh Ciki! :)
ooh, but consuming wine tends to leave us feeling flushed and heaty sometimes, right? i usually only drink wine in air-conditioned comfort, but if u say that white wine goes well with a warm evening, i'll try it next time! :D
you google-d the info on the wine??? Or you are familiar with the wine already??? Coz I read a post by Ciki that you go extra length by googling all the wines that you drink :P
Anyway it's Friday! Enjoy your weekend.. I'm going off to KL to bring relax!! Our PM Najib is coming to Kuala Lipis and I don't want to get stuck in the chaos tomorrow
Ooooo....han and bacon!!! Drool! Drool!!!
Life for Beginners: Hmm... I wonder if its sarcasm. Anyways, it's nothing great. It's just my personal tastes and views.
Superwilson: Ooh I left at 7pm. Ciki is hawt!
Sean: Yeah it does but for me, I'm kinda ok with it. You're just like one of my friends whom must drink under the condition that there must be full blast air-cons!!
Thule a.k.a leo: I google those that I have not heard of and probably first time drinking them. I need to know what I've drank. That's the way I do it. Enjoy your great weekend escapade!!! Hope you don't bump into the traffic!
STP: Two of your favourite things?
Yikes. It wasn't sarcasm, I assure you. Ask them lot. I dunno much about wine. :P
I do worship Bavarian beer though, does that count? Hehe.
Eh, how come you also blog about Skybar? I'm going to blog about that next! I agree it has the best view of Twin Towers! But I hope it has an open roof top like Luna Bar too! : )
i like the way you write .. HAMS! LOL, so cute.. like as if it were GEORGE! or PETER! .. like a person u saw :P
love the wines form Margaret river.
Life for Beginners: Sorry Kenny... I was just pulling your legs! I do not know anything about bavarian beers, maybe you should tell me a thing or two about them! haha
Foongpc: Yeah I'm waiting for your comparison verdict!
Cumi & Ciki: Thanks babe. Yeah the hams greeted me. I was more happy seeing ham than humans... lol...
