Will the "holier than thou" please stand up?
The headlines are flashing, the DVDs are selling and the google results are changing, what am I talking about? If you're out of the country, I don't blame you but if you live here and you have no idea what I'm talking about, I think it's time you hit the newspapers. 1st of January 2008 isn't exactly a day to celebrate for everyone especially our Health Minister Dr.Chua Soi Lek. The sex scandal tape was probably the most unwelcome new year present of his lifetime. I am not here to exploit Dr C's sex revelations but rather to give you a piece of what I think about the whole issue.
If you googled Chua Soi Lek, don't be surprised that the sex scandal issues are in the top 10 listing. In life, no one remembers your good deeds. You're only remembered for the misdeeds and so are politicians. The medias have always played an important role in keeping us update on the news and screws. The point is, they are also selective in whom they wish to scandalize and don't forget that these medias are much controlled by "certain political parties". What we sometimes read is not exactly the truth and that is why I love "Malaysia Today - Your source to unadulterated news" because it allows the readers to see a different light in things happening to the country. I am not so much a politics follower but at one time I was really thinking of joining the MCA Youth party but then again, I had a feeling that politics is not really my thing. If I am the member of parliament, I would probably make all liquor affordable, low taxes on imported cars especially my favourite sports cars, free petrol vouchers to every driver once a year and free education. That would probably get me votes but then the government will run on a deficit.
Back to Dr C's case, I think he is what we called a "victim of politics". With the elections coming, they'll be bound to have leaders being sacrificed for some political reasons beyond explanation. He's been quite aggressive, out-spoken and capable in federal and state levels. It's not easy from a nobody to become the Health Minister and to also hold the position of Vice-President of MCA. I admire him not for what he did in the tape but for his bravery to admit what he had done. How many times have we seen politicians and leaders being accused of involving in a scandal they often deny. How many times have we seen them asking for a trial, and after a few months, everyone would have forgotten about it and they walked out of the whole situation without a slightest glitch. We do know that tapes can be altered. Technology allowed us to do that and money that comes with power conquers all. With Dr C's name, I'm sure it can be easily done and if he denies it, probably a few months later, no one will ask about it because the case has been closed. He did the opposite - he admitted. How often do you see our leaders admit their mistakes?
Dr C's resignation only comes in on 3rd of Jan after he heard that majority of the Malaysians wanted him to quit. It was reported that 91% wanted him to quit comes from Astro and 99% from China Press. Now comes the funniest part. Why 99% and not a full 100%? I wonder how many people took part in the poll. I was not asked, my sis weren't either and so do my other friends. So whom did they ask? Themselves or just any 10 of the tom-dick-and-harry from the streets. If you asked me, I smell something fishy. As we all know who controlled Astro & China Press. Now the question is, which political party wanted him dead politically? Malaysians might be disgusted with his bonking scene in the video, but we should not forget that whatever he did, it's his privacy and no one has the right to intrude his privacy or whoever he wants to f***. Maybe some "holier than thou" people are not happy but do you really think thou is any holier than him? What we should scrutinize is the hotel management. How could a hotel allowed a CCTV to be installed and how could they be so careless and ignorant? Or should I say how much they have been offered for this act? What will happen to the tourism industry in our country if foreigners doubt the privacy of the hotels? They could be doing you-know-what in the room and the next day someone taped it start selling it in Petaling Street. I couldn't even imagine the consequences.
Yes, politicians should have a clean image. They have a set of unwritten moral values to follow because they are our leaders but then again, it was not written that politicians could misuse the power and public funds and yet we see them doing it. So where's the justice? Dr C has done quite a commendable job besides being able to last 55 mins in the bonking session at the age of 60 but that is besides the point. He had cut down the waiting time in govt hospitals from 3 hours to 45 mins, he had increased the wages of the specialists, extend operation hours, encouraging the pig farmers to stop using beta agonist in their livestock and he was also the one that ban fast food commercials from airing during the children's programme. But then again, there's still some stupidity that lies in him. Why would someone goes to the same hotel every time to do something like that? And then commented that the lady is his personal friend. Who would bonk a personal friend? Lucky my personal friends don't ask me for a shag. What kinda statements are those? Certainly don't come from a very intelligent person. It's like how could a leader, a father and a husband betrayed the trust of his citizens and family. I mean I don't expect politicians to be holy but at least be smart lah!
I very much agree with his supporters that he is indeed a capable leader, someone that has done the most changes to the govt hospitals. Since when did we ever hear anything good about the government? We have a PM Bodohwi who likes to fall asleep during meetings and Najis that is incapable of doing anything except being linked to the Altantuya case. I'm quite surprised that they did not suggest to Dr C to blow up the video with the C-Four Type bomb, the very bomb that is used on Altantuya. Haha...
The action that the media and police should be taking is to find the very culprits that video-taped the scene, the person that installed the CCTV, take action against the hotel and not exploiting the sexcapade story. Bill Clinton was involved in a sex scandal too and he had been replaced by Bushy George. Is George any better than Clinton? As soon as Dr C stepped down, some party calls for a by-election. What is the agenda behind it? Why should the sex scandal be the highlight of the country where every minute you have someone or "somebody" committing corruption? Which is more serious? Sex or corruption? I leave the judgment to you.

SEX SCANDAL does not bring the country down but CORRUPTION does!
Case closed.
Case closed.

I disagree with what you said but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
