I am having a craving for Italian....food! What were you thinking? Italian hunks? Yesterday I had a sudden cravings for spaghetti, seafood spaghetti with fresh basil leaves to be exact. However, Itallianies is not on my mind. It's too commercialized. I wanted somewhere better, more authentic Italian food. Jon suggested that we should go to the Italian restaurant at SS2. Since we both have not tried that shop, we went for it.
The ambianceI had a plate of Seafood Spaghetti with white wine (RM36) with a cup of iced Cappuccino (RM9.90) and Jon had a pate of Rosemary Chicken (RM32) and a can of Diet Coke (RM3.90). He was telling me that the prices are not cheap and the food better be good. I thought so as Itallianies have a lower pricing and Mezze Notte is almost in the same region of pricing.

The Rosemary ChickenHere comes my comment. The seafood spaghetti looked nice with big prawns, and mussels but I was a bit disappointed to see the small portion. I am no big glutton but the portion is really small and you can hardly see the spaghetti. The size is half of what you usually get at Itallianies. The taste is nowhere near heaven. There is not enough basil leaves and olive oil. Maybe it could be because they claim that they are using Extra Virgin Olive Oil and you know how expensive a "virgin" olive can be. The Rosemary Chicken was small either. It looked like a two-piece KFC chicken served with fried potato cubes and some leaves as salad. It tasted okay but could be better. The best part was, they even forget to change the cutleries. Jon had to call them to change them but no one heard him except the chef who managed to see his hand waving from the kitchen window. The chef was furious and he called the waitress into the kitchen. It must be a scolding as I can hear him from outside. As the waitress walked out, she told the table nearby that the chef was crazy!
No matter how many press ad they hightlighted on the table, one one said that anything recommended in the newspaper have to be good. One suggestion, they should have invested in a bigger plate if they planned to give such small portions. They failed to utilize the psychological food presentation. Overall, I think the quality of taste is only worth half of what I should be paying. perhaps this is the first and last time for this outlet. if you feel that you want to give it a try, go ahead.
